Planning objections to development at
Daydawn Upper Carlisle Rd.
Re. Proposed Development at Daydawn, 7 Upper Carlisle Road, Easbourne
Reference No. EB/2006/0432(FP)

Writing on behalf of the four householders at Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 4 of Clockhouse Court Residents Association;
we wish to object in the strongest terms to the current expansion of the development at Daydawn from five bedroom to seven bedroom houses and also to the format of incremental increase of the development following on from the granting of one planning application to another. This is probably the fifth time we have been asked to respond to development on this site, including a referral to the Minister.
It also appears that the granting of this new planning permission has already been anticipated by advertising seven bedroom properties in the local press, which is objectionable. As residents we feel that the planning process itself is being subverted by stealth and creep. We call upon the Council to take a firm stand once and for all on this issue.
The increase of density of the site is wholly out of keeping with the character of Upper Carlisle road, which has mainly large period detached properties. The enlarged development will excerbate traffic flows and potential hazards in an area almost directly opposite a school and where there are many elderly residents (e.g. all of the residents of Clockhouse Court are seniors and there are a number of residential care homes quite close to the development).
One could also anticipate the conversion of the seven bedroom properties into multi-occupancy units which, of course, in addition to the proposed development, would be wholly unacceptable to the residents of our Association.

Joseph Mullen (Dr.)
Secretary
Clockhouse Court Residents Association

Pls. find attached our objection to development at Daydawn Upper Carlisle Rd. which has been submitted to the Council; any support for same wd. be appreciated.

Mobile Phone Mast
I have discovered a T mobile phone mast on the roof of South Cliff Tower.
I live very close with two small children and I am naturally concerned of the health issues that could be related.
Can you help me campaign against it please.
tamsinfifield@hotmail.com
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There are transmitters on the roof of the Moorings in St John's Road and a lot of people objected to them being installed.
The chairlady of the Moorings residents' committee apparently bosses the residents into agreeing to the installation of the masts. She comments that the money they get from the masts is to pay for the maintenance of the building. How silly can you get. It would be better to think about maintenance of your own health.
All the local schools turned down request for masts on their property.
A Meads Resident.
Self-catering accommodation
We are a retired couple in the process of buying a house to live in in Meads, and wonder if there is anywhere (one bedroom flat) we could possibly rent while we are making arrangements for the purchase.
We like self-catering and would be very careful tenants. We need the flat from 23 October or thereabouts for about a week. Any suggestions would be most welcome.
Unsociable at the Moorings?
I saw the leaflet that came through my letter box referring to the the Moorings block of flats and the proposals for more transmitters on the roof. If this is true then I am a bit concerned, as we live nearby. The transmitters have to be kept away from schools because the may be harmful to children. Well what about the children who live near the Moorings block of flats!
The transmitters should be relocated on the Downs where they were going to be located in the first place.
I think the people who want the transmitters on the roof of the Moorings are unsociable and do not care about their local community.
Toad says 'Stinkers!'
My name is Toad,
Mr Toad
And I moved into Meads last summer. I have left Toad Hall, 2 big and the water stopped.
I am now in Pond Hall Meads and share a field with Mr Flabber who has a pile of red bricks, with doors and windows, at the other end of the field. Mr Flabber is one of my best friends as he fills Pond Hall even when there is a hose pip bang.
'Stinkers' yes at The Moorings St Johns, all that , radation stuff, bad for the little spawns and me!
Some of those two legged Mooringers are daft as a brush.
Does anyone know the whereabouts of Mole? I've heard he has a tunnel near that pile of bricks All Sants. Pond Hall has a wire so tell me if you see Mole.
Unwanted cuttings, plants and shrubs.
Hello,
I have been lucky enough to have recently moved to the village. However the small garden I have is virtually void of plants and shrubs. So if there is anyone living locally that has any unwanted plants,shrubs, cuttings etc I would be most grateful.
Obviously any dividing, digging up to be done, I would be available to do so. Thankyou and look forward to turning the area I have into a garden to be proud of.
SUPPORT FOR MEADS FRUIT AND VEG STALL
After the sad closure of the greengrocers on the corner of Meads Street, I hear that Jute Interiors is taking over the site and letting the side of the shop to a fruit and veg stall.
As this is a sorely missed local amenity for everyone to buy fresh fruit and veg, please lets give it all the support we can. It should be up and running in the next couple of weeks.
This is in our hands now, so please lets give it a good try!!!
Vitamins & Minerals to go!
From the beginning of August, thousands of popular vitamins and minerals will disappear from our shelves - allegedly on safety grounds - unless last ditch attempts to save them succeed. This is especially relevant to women who take evening primrose oil, vitamin B6 and magnesium for menstrual problems and relevant to anyone who is looking after their health by preventative measures.
I am sending everyone I know this e-mail to ask them to take five minutes and write to
Peter Hain MP,
House of Commons,
London SW1A OAA.
Tell him you take vitamins and mineral supplements, you find them beneficial and want to continue to use them. Appeal to him to encourage MEP colleagues to support the EU Nutrition and Health Claims Regulations amendments.
Margaret Ticehurst
Margaret Ticehurst your local Lib Dem candidate.
I am former Banker and tax consultant, after taking redundancy, I have been fully engaged in voluntary work. I spent my childhood abroad and have travelled extensively. Before making Banking my career I had a number of different employments ranging from the Army to farming. I am a facilitator for the Cancer Service Users Group of the East Sussex Hospitals NHS Trust and a lay representative on the Sussex Cancer Networks Executive.
I am a Trustee of the Eastbourne Seniors Club and Company Secretary for my apartment building in Meads where I has lived for 24 years.
I am a member of the European Movement and a senior activist with the Liberal Democrats both locally and nationally.
Eastbourne is a wonderful place with everything going for it and it needs strong representation to ensure it remains so. Social care at home, transport, health, the enviroment all need careful examination. I am concerned that new premises are built for the County Council but we cannot look after our elderly when they need help in their homes. Hope this helps, let me know if you want any questions answered. Margaret
Dennis Scard
Dennis Scard your local Labour candidate.
Message to the Meads Community
I moved to Meads four years ago. Before then I was a professional orchestral musician for 25 years and for 10 years General Secretary of the British Musicians’ Union and a member of the General Council of the Trades Union Congress. I am currently Deputy Chairman of Shoreham Port, a member of the DTI’s Central Arbitration Committee, and on the governing bodies of several educational/arts organisations. I am also a member of St. Johns Meads Bowls Club.
This local election is not about who should be Prime Minister, but who should represent Meads residents on East Sussex County Council. Whilst there is no doubt that the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats will win the majority of seats it is important for local democracy that Labour has a voice as well. A vote for Labour will help to ensure that:
· Following the closure of All Saints hospital, which has led to bed blocking at the DGH, we will campaign vigorously to end the nonsense of East Sussex Social Services paying a fine to the DGH of £100 per day for every bed blocked rather than providing proper recuperative or residential care.
· We continue to campaign for reform of the Council Tax, a better public transport infrastructure, and for controls on parking which deter commuters but assist residents.
· We will fight against proposed cuts in grant aid to voluntary organisations and young people’s services.
This year I urge you to vote for a new voice and vote Labour!
Ian Cameron
Ian Cameron your local UKIP candidate.
The UK Independence Party exists because none of the old political parties is prepared to accept that the real government of Britain now lies in Brussels.
Our purpose is to restore the authority for governing Britain to our elected Parliament in Westminster - hardly an unreasonable position.
TO BRING THIS ABOUT WE MUST WITHDRAW FROM THE EUROPEAN UNION !
I was brought up in Eastbourne from the age of five, and together with my wife, recently returned to this very pleasant town on retirement from business.
If elected to the East Sussex County Council I will apply my considerable energy and experience to defend and promote the interests of the citizens of Eastbourne in general and the residents of Meads in particular.
Kate Arnold
Kate Arnold your local Green Party
Kate grew up in Eastbourne and after living in London and Asia returned to England has lived in Meads for eight years. Kate is a Nutritionist and freelance writer, is a member of the Soil Association and lectures on health and nutrition.
She is passionate about environmental issues which overlap in the work she does. Having lived in some of the most polluted cities in the world with no environmental infrastructure coming back to england made me more aware of our responsibility to raise peoples awareness and keep that awareness at the forefront of all political arenas.
This year is even more exciting for the Green Party. Green issues are in the forefront of the news at the moment as we have seen in the monumental work of Jamie Oliver's work for better school food produced by local farmers.
A vote for the Green Party is a vote of conscience and a true green borough council would take the long term decisions needed to conserve our environment.
