PRESIDENT MRS ELIZABETH SCRUBY
|
Conceived and launched in 1985 as Combe Arts Club by the daughter of the broadcaster Fyffe Robertson, Mrs Elizabeth Muir-Lewis, it provided a venue for like minded people to enjoy a pleasant meal in relaxed and comfortable surroundings with a guest speaker drawn from the world of literature, music, drawing and painting. That successful combination endures today. Through the years the Club had broadened its range of interests to include guest speakers from the world of travel and exploration, retail, politics, broadcasting, theatre and TV, biographers and historians. The Club, which is a non political and non profit making organisation, meets in the Garden Suite at the Hydro Hotel six times a year for luncheon. In addition it holds a Christmas Gala Dinner at the same venue. Anyone interested in joining as a member, attending as a guest or requiring further information should contact the Secretary, Mrs Jenny Dent (01323 724483).
